When it comes to communicating with people you’ve just met, I used to think of it as a “game of finding each other’s interesting thoughts/experiences/perspectives.” However, it seems like most people operate on different logic. This realization was quite eye-opening. I used to believe that the main reason for communication breakdowns was the inability to find each other’s interesting aspects. But perhaps the issue lies in playing different games altogether. The essence lies not in the content but in the rhythmic process of engaging in communication, akin to a rhythm game. While having common topics during this process can be convenient, it’s not necessarily the essence of it.

In asym-chat (Anjasshu State Chat), the aim is to support communication among people with different interests.
- However, I realized that this is fundamentally based on the assumption of a “content-centric communication protocol.”
- Optimizing content in communication where content isn’t essential doesn’t hold much significance.
-
In CSCW, researchers studying communication are ultimately “researchers,” so it seems that those who value content-focused communication are likely to be more prevalent.
- Are there enough studies on protocols that differ from this approach..?
-
This is when fieldwork becomes crucial.
