Taking Notes with Scrapbox
-
It’s great that you can write down your subjective thoughts and ideas using icons.
- I think this is important for understanding and remembering things.
- I wrote about this in a previous Note.

Workflow:
- Even if the content of books or lectures is messy, start by writing it down.
- Once you start seeing the big picture and structure, use bullet points and rearrange them with ctrl-arrow to organize.
- After organizing the content after reading a book or attending a lecture, extract them as separate pages.
- This seems to be a good approach (blu3mo)(blu3mo)(blu3mo).
- It’s great that you don’t need to understand the structure at first.
-
Consider two functions of Note:
-
① External storage for memories to review later
- What would make you happy?
- Being able to review and remember various things based on the notes I made at the time.
- Being able to refer back to things that I thought were important.
- For example, Chinese Pronunciation, I had almost forgotten everything, but my notes from high school were helpful for relearning.
- It doesn’t need to be written in a way that can be understood from scratch.
- That’s what textbooks and the internet are for.
- I think it’s fine to only write down things that I find interesting.
- Especially for classes with interesting stories that don’t need to be remembered, like omnibus lectures.
- What would make you happy?
-
② Learning through abstraction and paraphrasing during the writing process
