I tried using the Godan keyboard, which is a derivative of flick input, as one of the text input methods on my smartphone.
-
Until now, I was using QWERTY.
-
The reason for trying it out was because I switched to the Pixel 4.
-
Compared to QWERTY:
- I have to switch my mindset when typing in English.
- Since it uses the Roman alphabet, it’s easy for me because I’m already familiar with it.
- It takes more time to use flick input compared to pressing buttons.
-
Compared to traditional flick input:
- I don’t have to worry about lowercase letters or voiced sounds.
-
Learning experience:
- I was able to type fairly well in just two days.
- Flick input still takes some time for me.
- I felt that even if I mastered it, my typing speed wouldn’t change much because I’m too used to QWERTY.
- So, I switched back to QWERTY.
