Key Bindings for Arrow Keys

• Vim’s appeal to others
  • I became interested after reading this discussion.
  • I want to experience the ease of key operations.
    • It’s like feeling “it’s a waste if you don’t know” from someone who knows Cmd-A.
  • Both vim and emacs seem to be similar (I might get scolded), so I want to try this.
• I chose emacs instead of vim because it seems easier (no deep reason).
  • Also, Scrapbox and IntelliJ IDEA have default key bindings.
• For now, I’m only interested in easy cursor operations, so let’s check cursor operations.
  • All the emacs-related websites have a feeling of being ancient, haha.
    • They all look like personal websites with hand-coded HTML.
• Actually, I only want cursor operations for moving one word left, one character left, and to the beginning of a line, so it would be simpler to set the key bindings for the entire Mac to something easy to press.
  • Maybe with Karabiner.
  • In that case, there’s no need for emacs specifically; I could use ctrl+hjkl as arrow key operations.
  • And for operations by word/line, the default Mac key bindings should be fine.
