First and foremost, I want to emphasize that I do not think the research funding system in the United States is a good one. I believe that the authority of evaluators has become too great in the modern scientific system.

Since it is fundamentally unfair and arbitrary, I think that Japan’s application process, which can be done with just a few documents, is more reasonable.

Therefore, the pages on research funding on this website are not meant to praise either the United States or Japan, but rather to provide strategies for surviving and gaining an advantage within this flawed system.
