• Things I want to do: I want to write an essay that presents and argues ideas while providing context.
  • Title of the essay: Polymorphic Reality - Towards a Smoothly Connected Subjective Metaverse

v1 20230228

  • Polymorphic Reality - Towards a Smoothly Connected Subjective Metaverse
  • I probably won’t be able to publish it if it’s too convoluted, but I feel like the main points come across when I read it again, so I’ll publish it.
  • I originally wanted to incorporate various contexts like Phenomenology, but it seems more beneficial to publish it first.
  • That being said, I still have a lot to write about in terms of Virtual/Polymorphic time, so I’ll write another essay.
    • Articulation of Thoughts 2023 - Talking about Virtual Time

v0.2

  • I received various comments on tkgshn edited version - Communication of virtual time - Aim for smooth subjective sharing between subjective realities and got a sense of the direction to revise.
    • [/tkgshn-private/2023/1/29 Consideration of the development of communication methods from the perspective of synchrony → kineto memo](https://scrapbox.io/tkgshn-private/2023/1/29 Consideration of the development of communication methods from the perspective of synchrony → kineto memo)
  • When talking about complex things, no one benefits from pretending to be difficult.
    • I’m not trying to be difficult, but it just becomes confusing to suddenly throw in discussions about intersubjectivity or phenomenology.
      • It’s better to explain things clearly first and then connect them to these concepts.
  • Analogies and metaphors are important in explanations.
  • Rethinking the flow of the explanation.
    • Maybe I should have started with the discussion on Window Technology.
      • The analogy of “window”
    • Technology has advanced, and there is an increasing amount of interaction with others through “windows,” right?
      • Peeking into a shared digital world through a window.
        • (By framing it this way, I can explain intersubjectivity with a metaphor)
        • Google Docs, Slack, Zoom, phone calls, they’re all like this.
      • This trend is continuing, and there’s VR, BCI, and Metaverse on the horizon, right?
    • I feel a lot of potential in computers as the “window” through which people interact with the world.
      • (Here, I’ll talk a bit about myself and show my hopes)
      • I can engineer the “world.”
    • However, is it necessary to share everything in this “shared world”?
      • In fact, even if we shared everything, it would be the same as reality.
    • So, what do I mean by that? I’ll give some concrete examples (SF).
      • Examples of meals
      • Examples of language
      • Places (spaces)
      • Time
        • Synchronization
        • => I Want to Write an Article Explaining the Background and Purpose of ParallelTalk
    • What would this world be like if it were possible?
    • Conclusion
    • In a nutshell,
    • In the bonus part, I’ll talk about something confusing.
      • Actually, this is similar to Kant’s Copernican Revolution and phenomenology.
      • These concepts would be very useful in a world where Window Technology is widespread.
        • It’s a world that considers phenomena=experiences, not objects in the objective world.

v0.1

  • Things I want to write about
  • Space is already relativized.
  • It’s easy to understand things like the metaverse, but
  • Time is also relativized.
  • In that context, is communication CRDT-like?
  • Should I also discuss ethics?
  • I want to show the reasons why I find hope in this.
  • Introduction to Metaethics
  • Title
    • Relativized Space and Time?
  • Things to do
  • A world line where people are not completely disconnected or perfectly synchronized, but smoothly connected.
  • First, should I make slides?
  • Write an outline while organizing claims, facts, and assumptions.
  • Considerations
  • Thoughts after re-reading the Bajiru Seminar paper
    • Overwhelming preliminary research investigation
    • Important to connect with the discussion of reality
      • The relationship between theory and reality
      • I want it to be clear that it is a meaningful discussion
      • From the perspective of sharing reality (time/space) beyond the internet, it might be good
        • Google Docs, Forum, Zoom, etc.
        • Membrane of information
      • Then, after writing the theory, I want to write about specific applications that can be considered
        • Writing about VR seems promising as one of them
  • If it’s not mainly about VR, the discussion will change quite a bit.
    • It will be in the context of Computer Mediated Communication and CSCW.
    • Let’s consider a more relaxed environment in various dimensions such as time, space, and content.
      • Rather than sharing or not sharing, let’s think more about the in-between.
    • Content
      • We think it’s the same point in time and space, but what we are looking at is different.
      • Example: simultaneous translation in Zoom
      • When the content is completely different, time and space are no longer shared.
        • Conversely, if some form of communication is shared, time and space can be shared.
    • Space
      • Completely shared: Nico Nico Douga, live streaming, etc.
      • Allowing some perspective: docs, Figma, etc.
      • TL is an image of space that becomes fragmented and recombined
      • They share the content, but the spatial configuration is different for each person.
    • Time
      • I think it’s the most unexplored.
      • Currently, almost everything is completely shared.
        • Zoom, chat, etc.
      • For those that allow some perspective, I have high expectations for CRDT.
        • In a relative world line, that seems better.
        • With CRDT, various merges can be done.
      • Specific application: Proposal for Non-Turn-Based Communication with Voice
        • If you imagine a voice conference where you can catch up even later, like a pseudo-synchronized Scrapbox in a meeting, it’s great to be able to think about it 💭💭💭
      • I want to talk about the idea that time doesn’t have to be linear, like Virtual Time.
  • In that case, the title would be
    • Communication that Shares Time in a Relaxed Manner
  • Todo
  • I want to make it a self-introduction as well.
    • Write about who I am at the beginning, including a brief background.
    • Detailed information can be on a separate page.
  • It’s difficult to organize the various claims.
    • Computer Mediated Communication can be organized from the perspective of how much reality is shared.
      • Manifestation
      • As a premise of Communication Theory, there is the claim of Phenomenological Sociology that intersubjective reality exists.
      • Communication is created by co-editing it.
      • Organizing the history
        • Letters ====> VRChat
        • Time
          • Similar to how you view a painting in a museum from different perspectives
        • Time and space here cannot be separated.
      • We should aim to implement a gentle sharing of reality on various axes (normative claim).
        • The goal is not to achieve complete synchronization.
          • That would actually create a sense of confinement.
          • It is an anti-progressive view.
        • We should strive for a gentle sharing on various axes.
  • Unnecessary Fragments of Writing Thoughts in the Process of Documenting 2022
  • People I want to send this to after writing:
    • People I sent a DM to at RealityHack.
    • RealityHack’s Discord.
    • UIST? That might be tough.
