In the case of CommonApp:
- The deadline is stated in the local timezone for all universities.
- However, the university descriptions may differ.
- For example: Stanford.
- Actual behavior of CommonApp (in JST):
- If it is past 23:59 EST, it will be marked as “Overdue.”
- However, it is still possible to submit.
- If it is past 23:59 EST, it will be marked as “Overdue.”
- Examples from actual universities:
- Princeton (blu3mo):
- The deadline was stated as 1/1, and I submitted around 14:30 JST on 1/2.
- Result: Accepted.
- JHU (blu3mo):
- The deadline was stated as 1/3, and I submitted around 17:00 JST on 1/4.
- Result: Not accepted.
- (However, the deadline for JHU as a whole was unexpectedly extended for a few days, so it was luckily accepted in the end.)
- Brown (blu3mo):
- The deadline was stated as 1/5, and I submitted around 14:30 JST on 1/6.
- Result: Accepted.
