Swiss universities

• I’ve been seeing some Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology (ETHZ) and (EPFL) popping up in the top rankings of universities, so I’m researching about them.

• There are two Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology:

  • ETHZ
    • Features of ETH Zurich studies | ETH Zurich

      • Monodisciplinary studies

      • The main teaching language in all Bachelor’s degree programmes is German

      • I’m not familiar with this aspect, and I don’t know German Language either.
  • EPFL
    • Study programs structure ‒ Bachelor ‐ EPFL

      • Flexible study programs: including a wide range of interdisciplinary minors

      • In addition, courses in humanities and social sciences (SHS) allow students to step back and develop critical thinking skills with regard to social, ethical and environmental implications.

        • It seems more liberal arts-focused compared to ETHZ.
        • But maybe it’s more like humanities for engineering purposes.
    • I’m not sure if they accept non-exchange students. (Not certain)
    • Teaching languages ‒ Study management ‐ EPFL
      • It seems like it would be difficult without フランス語, as more than half of the courses are in French.
      • Well, then it’s impossible for me.

• Conclusion

  • Since I don’t know German Language or フランス語, it’s not possible for me.
