Marxism and Structuralism

  • I thought that Marxism and Structuralism were similar or coexisted (blu3mo).
    • I thought that structuralism was similar to historical materialism (blu3mo).
      • Like the flow of history being determined by structure.
    • However, according to Claude Lévi-Strauss, they are apparently different.
      • Structuralism denies the view that history evolves from primitive forms to complex and functional forms in a one-way direction.
        • But I was also thinking that “society” changes according to the structure that encompasses society (blu3mo).
    • But there is also something called structuralist Marxism.
      • Well, there are various things after all.

Comparative Methodology

  • Structuralism is based on Comparative Methodology.

    • “Structuralism is a thought of relativization that was born from within Western modernity and devours Western modernity.”

  • It says in the first chapter that if you read this book, you will understand what “structure” is.

    • So, I’ll write down my understanding (or rather, my prediction) before reading it (blu3mo).
      • (Based on bits and pieces of information I’ve heard + my own thoughts)
      • Each society or community has its own “structure” in which humans belong.
      • It’s like the mechanism when considering society as a system.
        • (What does that mean? I realized that I don’t really understand what “mechanism” means when I try to put it into words (blu3mo).)
