  • To Do

  • Objective: Build momentum for when returning to the United States in January

    • Plan to acquire social capital through face-to-face and online interactions simultaneously
      • Since online interactions are somewhat more gradual, it feels right to start with them first
  • Plan A:

    • Switch @blu3mo to English operation
      • Probably, if someone from the English-speaking XR/HCI community looks at the current @blu3mo, they should see that they are followed by people like David Holz and Pedro Lopes
        • Therefore, they should not appear as completely suspicious
      • With a foundation already in place, aim to gradually increase credibility on English-speaking social media platforms
      • By starting with English-speaking individuals who have one foot in the Japanese community, it seems possible to effectively build up followers like rolling a snowball
    • Personal Japanese tweets will be posted on various accounts like @times and @blu4mo
      • This is already starting to happen
      • Expanding blu4mo a bit more might be a good idea
    • There doesn’t seem to be any significant downside to doing this
      • Even if it’s tried temporarily and then withdrawn, nothing significant comes to mind that would be lost
      • It would be surprising if starting English operations led to a drastic decrease in followers, but it’s probably not going to happen as expected
    • Also, want to maintain a presence on LinkedIn, although the extent of its effectiveness is uncertain
      • Everyone only seems to say “I am thrilled to announce that,” but there is a theory that it’s not a bad place to post because surprisingly, many people seem to be watching
  • Plan B:

    • Establish a new English account
    • Hmm, tried this before but there are several reasons why it didn’t work out
      • (blu3mo) cannot monitor three timelines
      • Starting from 0 followers puts you at a disadvantage algorithmically
  • Next Actions

    • Is it better to use a real name?
    • Translate some slightly controversial tweets from the past in the Japanese community into English
      • First, want to set the conditions for doing this
    • Create an English portfolio
      • A page explaining interests and experiences should suffice

===

  • Are you going to do it? (blu3mo)

    • The idea that interesting tech people are on Twitter is the same in the English-speaking community
    • Want to find interesting people in NYC/USA, so there’s motivation to engage with English-speaking Twitter
  • For now, maybe I’ll translate and post past viral tweets in English (blu3mo)

  • Rethinking the operation of Twitter and Scrapbox in 2023
