from Generation Z Awareness of ‘Generations’ 20210731
- I don’t really have a strong awareness of “generations” within myself.
- Maybe because it’s easy to categorize into two groups: us (children) and others (adults)?
- Us: have A, others: don’t have A
- If a younger “generation” with different characteristics emerges, would it strengthen the awareness of our own generation?
- It might shift from a binary division to a classification based on classes.
- Younger generation: have both A and B, us: have A/don’t have B, older generation: don’t have A or B
- Maybe because it’s easy to categorize into two groups: us (children) and others (adults)?

After 3 years, that awareness began to emerge.
- Not sure if it’s a good thing.
- Feels like a sense of Noblesse Oblige is emerging (tkgshn)(tkgshn)(tkgshn)
- I understand (blu3mo)(blu3mo)
- In junior high and high school, it’s in 3-year increments, so you never attend at the same time as someone 3 years apart (nishio)
- Undergraduate programs are 4 years. If there’s a 5-year gap, there’s a sense of not “overlapping with that person.”
- After becoming a working adult for a few years, it feels like that generational sense is deconstructed, and then there’s a broader sense of generations like “those 30 years younger are from the children’s generation.”
- That seems plausible (tkgshn)
- The scale of time seems to change depending on age (tkgshn)
-
I noticed that people from the current high school students to around B1, who are a bit distant in age to be called “(strictly) the same generation,” are forming a connected layer horizontally.
- Is it the same for SGG? (tkgshn)
- I feel that vibe in Denonken too.
- +1 (blu3mo)
- Should we make bouldering popular? (tkgshn)(tkgshn)(tkgshn)…

Apart from individual strength, I’ve started to pay attention to the strength and depth of layers as a generation (blu3mo)
- It feels quite arrogant, but I believe that how individuals and those around me interact will change the landscape of the field in 30 years.
- I thought about what Denonken and others (ks00max) are doing (blu3mo)
- It feels quite arrogant, but I believe that how individuals and those around me interact will change the landscape of the field in 30 years.

It’s off the topic of generations, but I feel the need to engage with communities like Driver’s License Camp that have no connection at all.
